Volunteers Needed!

Darby Creek Invasive Plant Removal Project

Do you want our place…where we live, to be a healthier, greener, more equitable, and sustainable place? Sometimes we need boots on the ground to help us with making that a reality. Here is a chance to do something very tangible for Upper Darby.

Please join us in this effort!

Attached is a flyer and information on our upcoming Invasive Plant Removal Days at Gillespie Park (N Sycamore Ave) next week (Aug 24,25,26 with a possible Sept 1 date). We will be focusing on a few areas along Darby Creek where we need to clear various invasives including porcelain berry, Asiatic bittersweet, privet, and knotweed – to make room for the fall planting of 160 native trees and 40 native shrubs!

Below is a link to a Sign up Genius to sign up to join us for one or two evenings if you have the time. Pulling and cutting invasive vines and plants can be really satisfying — you can almost feel the trees sigh with relief when we uncover them from the vines. 😊

Sign up Here to volunteer next week and spend some time along the shady Darby Creek!

If you go to sign up and there are no more slots available….come anyway on whatever evening you can make it!

Please share the information broadly on social media and other ways you have to get information out and invite family and friends! Hope to see you there!
