Upper Darby is home to the Tower Theater, a historic music venue on 69th street built in the 1920s. It is also known for one of the best public education music programs in the country as well as an independent theater and performing arts program “Summer Stage” which operates from the performing arts center at Upper Darby high school.
The 20th anniversary Gala was held on January 20th, 2018. This annual event and fundraiser was one of the first in the country to use a musical showcase to celebrate and help fund the musical arts programs. The amazing talent of the kids was on display again, and as happens every year there were a few extraordinary talents.
What really stands out though is the level of musicianship and vocal mastery of all the kids. Its a tribute to our our community and its support for the arts, our great music program and teaching staff and most of all the parents and children that participate.
Here is a short clip that showcases local talent with the Summer Stage production of 42nd Street. Enjoy!
