- [Arts Center](https://greaterupperdarby.com/arts-center/): Update: After two lengthy council meetings and many supporters who spoke in support of the Arts Center funding, council did pass the funding bill. It’s still not clear why the administration tried to claw back the funds, which came from the federal ARPA funds and not from local taxpayers. The on-again, off-again saga of the proposed arts center in Barclay Square seems to be on again. A Delaware County judge just ruled that the funds must be disbursed to the Arts and Education Foundation:

UDCCED and FOTFT were able to provide two food banks with fresh produce totaling over $1000 because of your generous contributions! The Upper Darby Food Bank and Centro De Apoyo Comunitario provided about 70 families with over a 1000 lbs of much needed fresh fruits and veggies this week!   There is still great need in Upper Darby.  Unemployment is high and many people have not gotten unemployment checks yet.  Our goal was to do 4 weeks of $1000….we haven’t reached that goal yet….but we CAN do this together!  Please contribute using the Read More ...
- [Black Lives Matter, Upper Darby Style](https://greaterupperdarby.com/black-lives-matter-upper-darby-style/): Anyone familiar with Upper Darby knows that it has been a diverse and immigrant-rich community for many decades. Although many have joined the protests in Philadelphia, Upper Darby also had local actions. There was a somber walking vigil in Arlington Cemetery with prayer, sharing and singing, a kneeling demonstration on busy Lansdowne Avenue, and other locations and times around the township. 69th Street is closed for the pandemic and now locked down by the National Guard to prevent looting. It’s something that would have been hard to imagine a few weeks ago.

The amazing talent of our kids was on display again, and as happens every year there were a few extraordinary talents. What really stands out though is the level of musicianship and vocal mastery of all the kids. Its a tribute to our our community and its support for the arts, our great music program and teaching staff and most of all the parents and children that participate. When we visited on this temperate Fall day a storm was moving in and the dramatic clouds burst forth in lightning and thunder just as we left.
